DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

The position of Consulting Manager is part of Plante & Moran’s Management Consulting Process and Quality Management Services. The aim of Plante & Moran’s operations experts is to help our client’s identify and eliminate waste in every area of production by incorporating less human effort, inventory, and lead time to develop products and processes so that their business becomes highly responsive to customer demand, while producing top quality products in the most efficient and economic manner possible. Our lean manufacturing process includes reducing waste in: Customer relations, Product/Process design, Supplier networks, Factory management and Production processes.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Consulting Manager position will be based in Southfield, Michigan, and will work within Plante & Moran’s Management Consulting team. Position will work with clients on significant cost reductions, capability improvements, supplier development, APQP, Production Systems, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma methodologies.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:

The skills, knowledge and abilities that are desirable in a candidate that would enable an individual to excel in this position include:

• Analytical ability required to:
• • identify variances and research issues regarding financial activity
  • identify opportunities to assess accounting processes & procedures for purposes of due diligence
• Accounting skills necessary to review:
• • general ledger and associated journal entries, including account analysis
  • records in accordance with GAAP
  • financial statements
  • special analysis and reports as requested by entities/Partners
• Ability to coordinate information flow with multiple sources (Client management, team, staff, etc.)
• Technology skills including those required to be proficient with financial accounting systems including Excel
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills required to:
• • promote positive working relationships with diverse personalities/roles at all levels in the firm
  • explain and interpret accounting/financial information to non-financial people

• 15+ years experience with lean manufacturing, operations consulting and turnaround work
• Masters degree required
• Ability to travel 30-40%
