Manufacturing Engineer – Southfield

CDI has an opening for a Manufacturing Engineer in the Powertrain Sealings and Bearings group in Southfield.

He/she will be responsible for developing new process technologies for dynamic seals. The position will involve a lot of travel, both domestic and international.

Description:
Responsible for developing new process technologies for dynamic seals.

Will work closely with a multi-faceted team to ensure process meets cost, quality, capital and delivery requirements.

Develop new processes from conception to production using a disciplined phased approach.

Engineer will develop a project plan inclusive of development steps, timing, budget and goals.

He/she will conduct feasibility analysis and 'prove of concept' before release of process for production.

All key elements of project will be documented in standards to ensure standard practices worldwide.

Engineer will work with purchasing and suppliers to ensure equipment proposals meet all technical, safety, cost and delivery requirements.

He/she will assist in launching new technologies globally, particularly in Asia, India and other emerging manufacturing locations.
He/she will also assist with development of local tooling and equipment suppliers at the location for intended production.

Provides support to manufacturing in troubleshooting processes using methodical problem solving approaches.

Develop standards for new processes to ensure consistency globally.

Assist in training of manufacturing engineers, supervisors and maintenance on equipment, tooling, quality and process.

Requirements:
BS Engineering. Mechanical or Manufacturing preferred.

Strong mechanical aptitude with 2 to 5 years hands on experience in dynamic seals or related product.

Ability to stay focused on established goals while working individually, on a team or in a team leader role.

Sets high standards for achievement and is influential in persuading team members.

Directly support the APQP/Product Launch management process.

Ability to effectively communicate both written and orally to a broad audience.

Ability to apply analytical problem solving using tools such as 8D, statistics, DOE and other analysis methods.

Ability to travel: Position will require extensive travel to Asia, India and other regions.

Provide manufacturing Technical Expertise and general manufacturing support.
