The responsibility of this position is to advance the level of technology within the ignition business. The advancement of technology will insure technical leadership in the industry and will support the continued improvement in market position and profitability.
The Research Engineer is responsible for the advancement of ignition technology and for the development of new products and processes to support our customers. The work also includes general technical support throughout ignition products. This could include part design, materials development, process development, validation testing, failure analysis and customer interfacing.
The Research Engineer is responsible for interfacing with suppliers, manufacturing facilities and the customer to develop our long-term technical strategy and to resolve technical issues on current products.
Requirements:
Extensive experience in ignition technology.
Extensive understanding of engine testing.
Extensive understanding of combustion principals.
Prepare detailed reports on concept and test projects.
Actively participate in technical societies as they relate to ignition technology.
Comprehensive knowledge in engineering and related fields. Has a strong technical leadership capability. Manages large projects. Crosses fields of knowledge.
Interface with the customer with little or no supervision.
Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects concurrently.
Develop new products and materials to meet the changing demands of the marketplace.
Develops new technology to provide tools and technology to other groups
Develops patent concepts and prepares disclosures.
Prepares technical papers and gives presentations at Conferences.
Identifies key project areas and provides technical leadership for the company.
